"Guest" user scores

Active registered Members, should I let guest keep score on the games too.  If so it will just say guest and score... for the person that submits, that is not registered.

I say let them keep their score but don't let "guest" into the highscore list, because it will be any number of people contributing.


Also I believe there is/was a registered user called guest.


I wasn't sure if I should have used the shout box for this or not so I started this thread.

well that's what I'm asking, should I let them into the high score list   OH the registered user guest, actually had a name, but she deleted her account...(was an ex-gf lol) So it automatically made her name into guest on the high score list.   I guess ill just leave it closed and make people register to keep scores.

You don't have to keep closed, not because of me anyway.

I can see how it could benefit your site when I think about it. Personally I hate sites that put everything behind a login(this site is still quite functional without a login though). It could even stir up a little competition, registered users vs "the outsiders".


Unless a user backlash(more than just me) fights off the tumble weeds in this forum, I think you should do what ever you think is best for your site, it's hardly a deal killer after all.

The only thought that occurs to me is offensive comments/spam on the scores page from unregistered(well not me...) users could be a problem.

well i'm thinking about doing this for the weekend..  keep it open for the week.   If there is tons of spamming on the comments area, ill shut it down and make it only registered users again.

Ok I have set it up where guest can keep scores on the arcade, But to prevent spamming they wont be able to leave a comment for there score.   This will only work if you are registered on this site.   I also turned on ads for guests, for some reason it was set off.. few of them were.

lol it looks werid.. like it comes out blank on some areas... when a guest submits.   So im just shut it down.  Make people register to keep scores.   Its simple enough lol.

Yeah I noticed that(<rectanglebox> scored x on y); I'm guessing the arcade is a complex beast. Part website, part DB with a few scripts for good measure. Anyone that has done any programming will know how much "just a little change" can screw with things on something that complicated.

At least guests got the ads turned on out of this, that's probably of some benefit in the long run.

yeah i know.. it was strange it was off for them lol... But everything looks to be good now.
